Upgrade at hospital Quiet Room & Hospital Church

The Quiet Room in Craigavon Area Hospital and the Church in Daisy Hill have been recently refurbished.

A new welcome archway was erected over Daisy Hill’s Church entrance and the porch was repainted. In the Quiet Room at Craigavon Area Hospital new flooring was laid down as well improving access by removing an internal door. The Quiet Room was also fully re-painted and the lighting and heating/ventilation systems were updated.

Patients, visitors and staff of all denominations are welcome to use these facilities as a place to pray or sit quietly to reflect.

Edel Corr, Patient Support Manager within the Southern Trust, commented on the importance of the upgrade:

“We know that many of our patients and clients take great comfort from their faith while they are ill in hospital and our staff who are often working in stressful and emotional situations greatly appreciate a place to find some solitude in our busy hospital environment.

“That is why it’s important to keep these rooms in good condition and help maintain a welcoming aura for people when they need the peace. It’s a nice place for people to go at a difficult time.”

The Trusts ChaplaincyTeam also provides spiritual care services for patients, their families and staff.

The Quiet Room at Craigavon is located on the ground floor corridor as you approach the lifts - it is open 9.00am to 9.00pm. The Church in Daisy Hill is located at the main foyer - it is open 8.00am to 11.00pm.  Both rooms can be used outside of these hours by contacting the Portering Service.
