Threats against taxi workers a disgrace - Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA for North Belfast, Gerry Kelly, said that threats against local taxi workers by an anti-peace process group are a disgrace and another example of their war with the community.

Speaking tonight Mr Kelly said:

"In the past days anti-peace process elements have targeted local taxi workers in the New Lodge area by distributing leaflets containing threats and allegations against a local man and his employees.

"Once again faceless criminals, seeking to intimidate this community, have threatened ordinary workers in North Belfast.

"These groups are self serving and are clearly at war with the local community. They have their own agenda and it is clearly not uniting Ireland.

"They need to withdraw these threats and accusations and let working people get on with earning a living for themselves and their families without fear of attack on themselves or their livelihood.”
