Southern Trust Hosts Major Quality Improvement Event

The Southern Health and Social Care Trust recently hosted a conference to promote improved quality and safety throughout its services.

Around 300 staff, patients and clients from across the area took part in the event to share best practice across a range of hospital and community services, focussing on improving the patient experience, safety and care and systems and processes.  There was a combination of clinical and service user presentations and 60 poster presentations.

A number of Health and Social Care Professionals spoke at the event covering a wide range of topics - including a presentation from Carmel McGrath, Day Services Manager, who offered a presentation on a new transition programme called ‘My Day, My Way’ which supports community based day opportunities.

Opening the event, Trust Chairperson Roberta Brownlee said:

“In the Southern Trust we are committed to providing safe, high quality care with compassion and our staff are dedicated to continually improving their services to ensure that patients and clients are always receiving the best possible care that we can offer.

“Even though we are under increasing demands for our services, it is really important to make time like this   to share best practice so that we are continually improving what we do. We are delighted to have been able to showcase some of the excellent examples of quality improvement from across the very wide range of services we provide, so that our different programmes of care can learn from each other.

“It is particularly important to hear from staff about what works well and where they can see room for improvement and of course we greatly value the views of our patients and clients who have so honestly shared their experiences with us which is vital for all continuous improvement.”
