Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has condemned the decision of the Israeli authorities to deny him entry to Gaza.
Speaking from Palestine, Mr Sheehan said;
"The decision by the Israeli authorities to deny me entry to Gaza is unacceptable and I condemn it.
"I am here to show Sinn Féin's solidarity with the Palestinian people and to promote efforts to reach a peaceful solution in the region.
"The people of Gaza have suffered enormously as a result of the Israeli blockade and the continuing military onslaught, the most recent just days ago.
"There is a growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Israel is attempting to hide that from the international community but they will not succeed.
"The international community have a responsibility to support the people of Palestine and to challenge the Israelis to stop the persecution of Gaza."
