Shane O'Neill's Club Notes 26.02.17
Annual Dinner Dance
The club held a very success Dinner Dance in the Canal Court Hotel on Saturday night with well over one hundred people in attendance to honour and recognise the achievements of the club in 2016.

Following a fantastic meal, the MC for the night Paul O’Neill invited our chairman Mick Mackin to say a few words. Mick thanked everyone for their contribution, hard work and commitment to the club over the past year and encouraged everyone to continue to work for the betterment of Shane O’Neill’s.

It was then on to the presentation of awards with our minor boys up first to collect their Division 1B league winner’s medals before Matthew Girvan picked up the Minor Player of the Year award. Greg McCabe was named the U21 Player of the Year with Paul O’Rourke collecting the Senior Player of the Year. A number of awards were presented to Eamon McCabe, Matthew Girvan and Greg McCabe in recognition of representing Armagh at minor and U21 level last year.

It was on then to our ladies’ football awards with joint senior manager Caoibhe Sloan highlighting the achievements of 2016, including the fact that our senior ladies were crowned Armagh and Ulster champions before narrowly missing out on an All-Ireland title in December. Caoibhe paid tribute to everyone who helped make 2016 so successful before Peter Lynch presented recognition awards to Angela Jones, Aoibhín Osborne, Paul McArdle, Keelan Downey, Anthony Sloan, Declan Lynch, Conor McKeown and Martina Devlin. Kirsty Murphy was then named the U16 Player of the Year with Cliodhna Sloan picking up the Minor Player of the Year Award. Hayley Mackin was nominated the Most Committed Player of the Year before Louise Kenny collected the Senior Player of the Year trophy.

Our Hall of Fame award was made to Gabriel McCreesh who played for the Shanes many years ago, before our current senior manager David Muckian picked up the Club person of the Year trophy. Before finishing a number of special awards were made to Caoibhe Sloan and Peter Lynch in recognition of their achievements with our senior ladies in 2016.

Following the completion of the awards ceremony everyone danced and enjoyed themselves into the early hours.

Membership Rates for 2017
Club membership is now due and the rates for 2017 are as follows:

Senior Members: £30.00
Cairde Members: £15.00
OAPs: £15.00
U18s: £15.00 for first player in a family, £10.00 for every other player
All membership must be paid before 31st March 2017.

Cairde Sheáin Uí Néill
The club is actively encouraging more people to sign up to the Cairde Sheáin Uí Néill scheme at a cost £10.00 per month. This money goes directly towards club development schemes and over the past number of years has helped to upgrade the playing surface on the main field, construct a new training pitch, partly contribute to the new concrete driveway and will hopefully help to begin construction on the new walkway around the field.
At £10.00 per month we feel it is a very easy, worthwhile and beneficial scheme to sign up to. For further information, please contact Brendy Osborne (07543 806274) or pm the Shane O'Neill's Facebook page.

Lotto
Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 11, 19, 20 & 22. There were no jackpot winners and 1 x match three winner. The jackpot now stands at £5,150.

Condolences

Everyone at the club would like to offer their sympathy to the family of Eugene Monaghan who died recently. Eugene was the grandfather our senior footballer Danny Monaghan, our underage footballer Chloe Monaghan and former player Declan Monaghan. May he rest in peace. The committee and members of Meabh O’Neill’s camogie club send their deepest sympathies to their chairperson Sandra Smith following the death of her nephew Andy Smith. Their thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
