Shane O'Neill's Club Notes - 24th Sept 2017

Minor Boys

All roads lead to the Athletic Grounds this coming Wednesday night, 27th September when our minor boys’ amalgamation take on Maghery in the Division 2 championship final. The game throws-in at 8:15 pm and everyone is encouraged to come along and the lads your support. The lads and management have worked hard all year and hopefully they can end the season by picking up the silverware on Wednesday night.

Minor Girls
Our minor girls are at home on Monday night, 25th September against St Patrick’s Cullyhanna in the shield semi-final at 6:30 pm and again everyone is encouraged to along to lend the girls your support.

U14 Girls
Our U14 girls took part in a blitz in Correnshigo on Saturday and some great performances saw them qualify for the semi-final before losing out to Silverbridge.

U10s
Our U10 attended Killeavy’s annual tournament on Sunday to bring an end to their footballing season. They found themselves alongside Dromintee, Pearse Ogs and Culloville in the group stages and following some tough games where the where the young Shane’s put in a great effort they progressed to the shield quarter-final. This game saw them face another Dromintee team and the Shane’s came out strong from the start and clocked up a couple of early scores which helped them qualify for the semi-final. Killeavy awaited the young Shane’s in the semi-final and again they started the stronger side and went into an early three-point lead. Killeavy got back to within a point but the Shane’s stood firm and tagged on a couple of further points to see them through to the shield final. Culloville were the opponents in the final, a side which had beaten the Shanes convincingly in the group stage, so the Camlough side knew they were in for a tough game. Culloville began the much better side and led by two points early on but the Shanes showed some great skill and determination to cancel out the deficit and the sides went into the half-time interval all-square.  Both sides served a brilliant second-half of football exchanging scores throughout but it was the young Shanes who eventually emerged victorious by one point to claim the shield. A great day was had by all and it was great to finish the season with another great win. Well done to all the players and their management team for all their hard-work and commitment throughout the year.

Well done to all our underage footballers who represented their schools at last week’s Cumann na mBuscol blitz.

Lotto
Last week’s winning lotto numbers were 7, 12, 23 & 26. There were no jackpot winners and 1 x lucky dip winner. The jackpot now stands at a very impressive £6,600 so why not get yourself a ticket…. if you’re not in, you can’t win.
