McCann meets Justice Minister over Quad and Scrambler Legislation

Sinn Fein MLA Jennifer McCann met with the Justice Minister today to ask for a review of the current legislation that governs scramblers and quads.

Speaking after the meeting the West Belfast MLA said:

"Following the recent tragic death of a woman knocked down by a scrambler bike we have a series of meetings with the PSNI and other agencies to review the current legislation and how robustly it is enforced.

"Today Community Safety Worker for the Colin area Michael George and myself met with the Justice Minister and asked her to review the current legislation and to bring forward the necessary amendments to strengthen areas like registration and marking and identification of these vehicles.

"We also asked her to ensure that the PSNI will enforce the powers they have to seize these machines.

"All agencies need to work together to ensure that these vehicles are not used in any public places.”
