Macmillan Unit maintains ‘Award-Winning Cancer Environment’ charter mark.

The Macmillan Unit at Craigavon Hospital has recently been successful in the renewal of the Macmillan Quality Environment Charter Mark (MQEM).

The MQEM is a detailed quality framework used for assessing whether cancer care environments meet the standards required by people living with cancer and is the first assessment tool of its kind in the UK.

Results of a recent inspection highlighted that once again the Macmillan Unit met with compliance levels and will maintain the charter mark for a further 3 years.

Fiona Reddick Head of Cancer Services for the Southern Trust said:

“In meeting the MQEM standards, we are demonstrating to our clients that the Macmillan Unit is; welcoming and accessible to all, respectful of people's privacy and dignity, supportive to client’s comfort and well-being, giving choice and control to people using our service and very importantly we are listening to the voice of our clients.

“I would like to thank and congratulate the staff of the Mandeville Unit for their continued efforts in maintaining these very high standards.”
