 Sinn Féín MLA Cathal Boylan has urged people to have their blood pressure and cholesterol level tested in order to know if they are at risk of heart disease or stroke.

Speaking on World Heart Day 2016, Mr Boylan said:

“I myself underwent major heart surgery and would urge everyone to take care of the hearts.

“Cardiovascular disease, including heart disease and stroke is the world’s number one killer.

“A few simple steps like eating more healthily, cutting down on alcohol and stopping smoking can improve your heart health and your overall wellbeing.

“I would call for everyone to have their blood pressure and cholesterol level tested in order to know if they are at risk of heart disease or stroke.”
