Leisure Centre Reflects Commitment to Health & Well Being in The District

Speaking following the opening (Monday 6th November) of the new Newry Leisure Centre, Sinn Féin Newry, Mourne & Down Council Group Leader Cllr Mickey Ruane said that the new modern leisure centre with state of the art facilities was open to all and a great facility for the whole community to enjoy.

"The Newry Leisure Centre project was one of the biggest investment the Council has made and it reflects our commitment to health and well-being in the district. The new modern centre with state of the art facilities is open to all and is a great facility for the whole community to enjoy".

His colleague Newry & Armagh MLA Conor Murphy commenting after visiting the new facility commended all involved in helping deliver the new flagship facility for Newry.

"Many groups, individuals and sports have over the years lobbied for the provision of this new facility. Elected representatives, Council Officers, Assembly Departments, Funders, User Groups and Communities working together have helped deliver this £20 million Leisure Centre.

We in Sinn Féin commend all involved, we are committed to delivering for our communities and we are proud of our record of delivery for the Newry City Region which includes over £50 million for local and primary schools, £150 million for Newry Bypass, £15 million for Newry Train Station, £20 million for Newry Leisure Centre.
