The AGM took place on Monday 23rd October 2017 in the Thierafurth Inn, Kilcoo – thanks to all those who attended. We still have a number of vacant positions and we welcome any new members who would be interested in joining our committee for 2018.

 

Don’t forget to show your support to our senior girls this weekend in the RGU clubrooms. They have organised a 12-hour spin fundraiser for the very worthwhile cause, KBRT. This is taking place on Saturday 4th November. Contact Kyla Trainor if you would like to get involved. 

 

Trials are starting in DECEMBER 2017; can all clubs please spread the word and encourage all players to participate. Further details will be published closer to the time. 

 

U15 girls held their last Down Academy on Sunday prior to the Ulster Blitz THIS Saturday in Mid Ulster Sports Arena Cookstown. With 4 teams entered there will certainly be a lot of playing time. This is an excellent opportunity for the girls to represent their county and for many wearing the county jersey for the first time. Many thanks to Ballykinler GAC for use of their facilities over past 6 weeks.

 

The Down 2018 U14 Championship Squad trials (for girls born 2004) continued on Saturday at Abbey Grammar Newry. There was a great turnout again with 39 girls from 15 different clubs giving their all at the second of three trials. This is fantastic numbers given that four clubs are involved in county finals on Sunday. Plenty of skill and commitment was on display as the girls stake their claim for a place on the squad. Their ongoing dedication is a credit to them, their families and their clubs. Well done girls! The final trial will take place at St Patrick’s Grammar School, Downpatrick next Saturday 4th November from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, which all girls are asked to come along to. The mentors would like to wish the very best of luck to all those girls participating in county finals over the next two weekends.

 

After 6 great weeks including an Ulster blitz, the 2005 Academy came to a finish on Sunday in Castlewellan with another great turnout. Great numbers across all weeks and we thank all the girls that have attended the academy, they have been a pleasure to coach. Please keep an eye on all Social media for details of the Trials which are due to begin very soon.  Thanks again from all the coaches.
