U18/Minors - BORN 2000/2001 ONLY
The minors played Armagh in a “friendly” this morning. It was a great opportunity to get a look at the new group of girls in game time. They didn’t disappoint with their skill and attitude that playing for Down requires. Next Sunday we are at home to Tyrone where home support would be appreciated.

Down U16 – BORN 2002 ONLY
U16 ladies travelled to Louth on Sunday to play their first of 3 challenge matches in preparation for Championship. Both teams battled hard dealing with the windy conditions but it was the Louth team that managed to overcome this hurdle and come out on top after 60mins of football. All 25 girls available to play had at least 30 mins of game team each and this certainly has given the management team a lot to think about. Training continues on Sunday at Ballykinlar GAC at slightly earlier time of 11-12:30. Next challenge game at home to Armagh on 11th February.

Down U15 – BORN 2003 ONLY
U15 girls had their first challenge games as a squad as we fielded two teams against Antrim at the Dub this Sunday. Both games were hard fought and there was little between the counties but the girls battled hard against a physical Antrim squad and a strong wind. Every girl got a full game and it was the perfect way to see all girls in action and identify strengths and weaknesses within the squad. The first game of the season is never easy but the girls all enjoyed the challenge and are getting to know each other better week by week. The management came away very happy with the performance and with plenty of positives to talk over. Details of next week’s training will be finalised and posted up in the WhatsApp group during the week. We also do have a game against Armagh for Saturday 10th Feb, more details closer to the date!!

Down U14 - BORN 2004 ONLY
Down U14s held a 12 km sponsored walk on a breezy and mild Sunday morning in Tollymore Forest Park, which made for perfect conditions. The craic and banter amongst the girls was great with some fantastic scenery along the way. Big thanks to Rowan McMahon for being chief Orienteer. Well done ladies and thanks to all the parents for doing the dropping off and picking up. The U14s now look forward to a challenging game away to Kildare next Saturday.
Down U13 - BORN 2005 ONLY
Well done to the u13 ladies who got together for their first squad training session in a very cold Newry on Saturday morning. Next session will be held in St Colman’s Newry on Saturday 13th January 11:45 to 13:30.
