Down County Board Updates

The AGM will take place on Monday 23rd October 2017, at 8 pm in the Thierafurth Inn, Kilcoo. As you are all aware we are moving into a big year ahead, with our 25 years anniversary and the Feile taking place in Down. It is important that we have all our positions filled and we look forward to new members coming on board to our committee.

Remember you are the county board, and you elect your officers, but we will be asking for more help. Please do not put a nominee on without asking the person first.

U18/Minors - BORN 2000/2001 ONLY

Trials are starting in DECEMBER 2017; can all clubs please spread the word and encourage all players to participate. Further details will be published closer to the time. 

Down U15/16 Academy – BORN 2002 / 2003 ONLY

U15 girls held their last Down Academy on Sunday prior to the Ulster Blitz THIS Saturday in Mid Ulster Sports Arena Cookstown. With 4 teams entered there will certainly be a lot of playing time. This is an excellent opportunity for the girls to represent their county and for many wearing the county jersey for the first time. Many thanks to Ballykinler GAC for use of their facilities over past 6 weeks. 

Down U13/14 - BORN 2004 ONLY

The Down U14 trials for the 2018 squad (girls born 2004) got underway at St Patrick’s Grammar School, Downpatrick on Sunday afternoon. A total of 46 girls turned out to give their all and try to stake their claim for a place on the championship squad. The girls showed great intensity and work rate throughout the mini-games and were really focussed. A big thank you to all the girls for their commitment and fantastic attitude. It was also great to see a few new faces that had not attended the Academy which finished up the week before. The trials will continue next weekend. Day and times to be confirmed as it depends on pitch availability.

Down U12 Academy - BORN 2005 ONLY

The academy continues on Sunday 29th from 10 am to 11:30 am at the Bann Road, Castlewellan.
