 The courtyard areas at Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy have been greatly improved thanks to the tremendous efforts of the Conservation Volunteers. The area had become overgrown with shrubs and trees and was in need of redevelopment. 

The Conservation Volunteers have done a great job in cutting back these areas and clearing the space to allow for new planting. Seated areas for patients, visitors and staff have also been installed allowing for relaxation, reflection and appreciation of the environment. 

This project also helps the Trust to achieve the objective of making the most of the physical environment under the "Making Life Better framework for Northern Ireland." 

Peter Douglas, Specialist Estates Officer (Environment) said: 

“The courtyard areas have been redeveloped for the benefit of our patients, visitors and staff. I would encourage them to relax here and enjoy the improved green spaces at Trust premises. Not only can we improve the area environmentally but we can also influence the health and wellbeing of those who visit."

“The Conservation Volunteers strongly recognise and promote the use of our outdoor space for health and well-being benefits.  We are delighted to have been able to redevelop this courtyard garden for use by everyone at Craigavon Hospital.”
