Castlewellan GAC Notes 23rd July 2017
Pride of place this week goes to the O'Rahilly's U16 hurlers who won Division 2 of the league. This is a team combined with our neighbours Leitrim. Congratulations to all and especially all the Castlewellan lads, joint captain Joe O'Boyle lifted the trophy on Sunday, a great future lies ahead for these lads. Well done to all involved.

Joint Captains Joe O'Boyle and Eoin McCrickard receive the trophy from referee Hugh Torney.

Our senior ladies footballers continued on their winning ways, beating Annaclone away on Saturday night. The first half was end to end but the girls stepped it up a gear in the second half & with a massive team effort they ran out the clear winners. Final score: Annaclone 5-06 Castlewellan 5-14. Two final league games remain with the girls still in contention for the league title. Next up the ladies will play Annaclone again on Thursday night (27 July, throw in 7:30 pm) in the Meadow. Well done girls.  Keep up the good work.

After our Summer break Saturday morning coaching returns to St Malachy's Park this Saturday 29th at 10 am for our Primary School Children. Last years nursery to P2 boys and girls from 10 am to 11 am.  Last years P3 to P6 girls football and camogie from 10 am to 11:30 am. Boys schedules will be confirmed by coaches during the week. We look forward to the continued support of our coaches and parents from now to the end of our season in mid September.

U14 girls footballers played Rostrevor in their last league game of the season. The town had to field 14 missing many of their players so girls found themselves playing out of their preffered postitions. That said all played well and battled against the league winners. Castlewellan started strong, opening scores with a goal and two points in quick succession. Rostrevor secured a goal in the counter attack and town girls' heads dropped, sadly after this confidence became the biggest challenge. Rostrevor won comfortably however, the town girls showed glances of the skillful, determined football they are more than capable of.  Training Wednesday night at 7:30 pm.

Good luck to the Down Senior football team who this week will take on Monaghan for the second time in the championship. It's not often we as a county get a day out at the headquarters in Dublin. Best wishes to the whole team and especially our own players Mickey, Sean, Colly and Rory.

Just over one week to put final draw, a massive jackpot of £5000 is on offer to one lucky dinner, there will be nice music in the club for our last draw, everyone welcome on what promises to be a great night.

This weeks lotto numbers were 2,3,8,10, there was no jackpot winner, making next week's jackpot £5050.
