 Sinn Féin MLA Michaela Boyle has welcomed news that a reception will be held in Stormont to honour Ireland's Paralympic team. 

The Sinn Féin spokesperson on disability said: 

"Ireland's Paralympic athletes were great ambassadors for sport and for Ireland at the Paralympic Games in Rio. 

"They did everyone proud with fantastic performances from the medal winners and all other athletes who took part. 

"I contacted the Minister for Communities to ask him what he intends to do to recognise the achievements of the local Paralympic athletes and I am delighted that he has now responded to say that he is planning to hold a reception at Stormont. 

"Our Paralympians have done great work in challenging preconceptions and breaking down barriers and it is important that is honoured and I look forward to attending the reception."
