Birthday Honours for the Police Service of Northern Ireland
Four Birthday Honours have come to policing in Northern Ireland.
 
Sergeant Gwyneth Buchanan has been awarded the MBE for Services to Policing and the Community in Northern Ireland.
 
Three Queen’s Police Medals (QPM) have been awarded.  They go to Detective Chief Superintendent Nigel Forsythe along with two other officers who have requested no publicity.
 
MBE 
Sergeant Gwyneth Buchanan has been a serving police officer for 28 years.  She was one of the first officers to specialise in supporting victims of domestic abuse through the criminal justice process.  She has also worked closely with the community and voluntary organisations in the Armagh area.
 
Sergeant Buchanan has also played a central part in the RUC GC Widows Association and the Police Benevolent Fund.
 
QPM 
Detective Chief Superintendent Nigel Forsythe has been a police officer for 28 years. 
During his time he has served across Northern Ireland in both uniform and detective roles.  In recent years he has been influential in enhancing relationships and building community confidence in policing through his work in the investigation of serious crime.
