Kieran McMahon got down to work straight away with some exquisite pool. Neil Heaney never had the armoury to trouble the 'Machine' McMahon.
CWC thought it was business as usual when Bernie Magee beat Ralph Crummy for 2-0.
Young Eoghan Magee is a nice potter but you need more than potting ability to beat super experienced ex-snooker player Eugene McDermott. The latter was too good and it was 2-1.
Raymond McKenna was hot favourite against Seamus Keenan but the 'snail' always beats the Hare apparently and at the half-way stage it was all square at 2-2.
Art Ruddy didn't fill Paul Murphy with fear after a nervous start and Murphy did the needful for Bears who edged in front 3-2.
Incredibly CWC A captain Pat Brady went to the penultimate league game of the season before he finally tasted defeat. It was Niall McQuillan that ended Brady's dream of going a whole season with a 100% winning record with only one more match to play. Surely only 3 games in he wouldn't taste defeat. But yes he did and it was Diamuird Lonergan who wasnt to inspired after loosing the lag twice and was put into bat first and bat he did wallop into the bottom left pocket to put Bears 4-2 up.
It was up to new signing and Pool League Secretary Micky Cunningham to try and at least take the match into a decider. Garry Powell is no soft touch. He fairly mixed season last time out but he's a great potter and a dangerous opponent. Cunningham was on for the perfect finish until he missed an easy pot on a straight black and when Powell got a lucky snooker it was curtains for CWC A. Powell sealed a famous win and the 2 points and to rub salt in the wounds Adrian Holman made it 6-2 with a win over Seamus McGeoghegan.
It's not the end for CWC A but when their big names are missing their squad looks very vulnerable.
Well done Bears who won't be the pushover many teams faced last season.
Trainors Bar look like they could the main challengers to CWC A. They beat 7 man Hustlers in a re-fixture midweek and after a hard fought win over Orchard on Thursday they are now the only Premier Division side with 100% record.
They got off to a flyer in Camlough with James O'Hagan and Niall McVerry taking the opening 2 frames of the evening.
Gerard Bagnall playing his 1st ever Premier Division game beat Dee Kearney. Kearney is having a little wobble as his form has dipped and now faces the axe.
Tony McGovern levelled the scores at 2-2 when he beat Seamus Graham. McGovern has now won all 3 of his league games so far.
Paddy Tavey then David Cromie exchanged frames to go into the last two frames level at 3 apiece.
Seamus McVerry and finally Liam Bradley scraped Trainor's over the winning line for the two points that fired the Camlough side top of the league.
McGuigan's got their 1st league win of the season with a very comfortable victory over fellow newly promoted Nan's Rams.
Gerard McGuigan, Martin Conroy, Pat Byrne, Paul McAreavey and Mike McArdle gave McGuigan's an unassailable 5-1 lead. Pat McClenghan had levelled the match 1-1 before the visitors kicked into gear.
Luckily For Nan's McGuigan's took their foot off the gas which let Jimmy O'Hare and the superb Rony O'Reilly take the last 2 frames of the night. O' Reilly has won all 3 of his games so far and one of the few with 100% win record.
Cathal Phelan, Michael Feenan and Shane Phelan had Whitecross 3-1 up against Hustlers before the wheels came off. Barry Murphy had levelled before long time team mate Shane McAllister started the come back at 3-2.
Ciaran O'Neill tied the match with 2 frames left on the card.
Whitecross legend Mickey O'Hanlon became one of the few players to have played all 3 league games and lose them all. It was another pool legend Kevin Magee that beat him to make it 4-3 to Hustlers.
Hustlers had no 8th man and so Gavin Malone picked up his 1st league win of the season to salvage a draw for Whitecross.
